Christian Education

We strive to educate the members and friends of our church to become God's love in the community. We provide Biblical education for all ages starting with preschoolers and young children during Koinonia Time, which takes place during the sermon. Children participate in their own worship service, learning the stories of the Hebrew scriptures and the Gospels.

In the summer we have a Vacation Bible School. We also provide Monday morning music and art instruction for community preschoolers (see more information about this in "Our Community"). The youth group meets monthly for recreational activities, and they are welcome to attend the adult education classes, which explore Biblical writings, history, ethics, and social issues. A bright and sunny nursery school staffed by certified care giversis provided for infants and small children during the worship service and for special events.
Youth Program

The program our church has used for eleven years now in Koinonia is called Godly Play. It was developed initially by as Episcopal priest named John Berryman, based on the work and philosophy of Maria Montessori. Anyone who wants to know more about Godly Play might enjoy looking at http://www.godlyplay.org.

Our after-church youth class uses a Bible survey course that was first developed at Nassau Presbyterian Church in Princeton, NJ. You can see an overview of the course at http://www.pcusa.org/webelieve/samples/oldtestament.pdf When we finish that course, we will continue with the New Testament survey, http://www.pcusa.org/webelieve/samples/newtestament.pdf
