Community Fair
Our Session is planning for us to participate in the January 19 Community Fair -- here is the invitation that we received about this event. If you would like to be a part of this, please contact Alison in the church office or any member of the Session.
Dear Pastors,
In Spring of 2008, the city of Cottage Grove held a series of Town Hall Meetings seeking input on their vision 2037 project. The church community was very influential in suggesting and prioritizing goals and action steps.
I have been the church representative on the Vision Keepers Committee whose goal is keep the 2037 vision alive. To that end, a Community Fair will be held on Tuesday January 19, 2010 from 5-8 p.m. at the High School Cafetorium, featuring the volunteer groups of our community. Booths will be set up so that attendees can get information on the various community groups and look for ways to get involved. A presentation will also be made highlighting the progress made on the 2037 vision.
I encourage you to inform your congregations of this event. I will pass it on to you any promotional material as soon as I receive it. I know this is a late notice, but I thought it better to inform you now then during the holidays.
In addition, The Church of Cottage Grove has been invited to provide a booth. A brochure is being prepared that will contain the information of the congregations that had previously been sent to me. You are also encouraged to develop a stand up poster (that would fit on a table) promoting the work of your congregation. If you have a specific area in which you would welcome community volunteers, please highlight it on your poster. Please have your posters to me at Trinity Lutheran Church (675 S. 7th) by Monday January 18th.
Please let me know if you have any other ideas to make the Church booth inviting and if you have anyone who would like to staff it. Get back to me with any questions.
May the Lord bless our efforts.
Jim Markus, Pastor
