The Senior Meals Program
The Senior Meals Program is one of the Community Services supported by the First Presbyterian Church. Senior Meals, sponsored by Senior and Disabled Services, delivers meals to homebound seniors. The Cottage Grove Dining Room at 925 West Main serves a noon meal each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. All meals are planned by a dietician to meet at least one third of one's daily nutrition needs.
Diners have a choice of two hot meal entrees, vegetables, bread, dessert, and beverage. A deli-style lunch is also available. Lunch is served to all persons age 60 or over regardless of income or residence. There is no charge for the meal, but a donation of $3.60, or whatever one can contribute, is suggested.
Cottage Grove Meal on Wheels serves home-bound clients who have long- or short-term need for meals. A friendly volunteer may be the only contact a senior in an isolated living situation may have. Volunteer drivers are needed for the three Meals on Wheels routes, each serving 12 to 15 persons. Volunteers are also needed to help at the dining room with meal preparation, serving, and cleanup. Financial assistance is always welcome.
